Flags at half-staff for upstate soldier killed in action
ALBANY - Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered flags on state government buildings to half-staff today in honor of Marine Corps Sergeant Mark A. Bradley, a Cuba, NY resident who died in Afghanistan on June 16.
Sgt. Bradley died while conducting combat operations in Helmand province. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment of the 2nd Marine Division of the II Marine Expeditionary Force based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
"On behalf of the people of New York, I want to express my sympathy to the family, friends, and fellow Marines of Sergeant Bradley," Governor Cuomo said. "As we mourn the loss of this young Marine from Western New York, we honor and remember his service to our nation.

In honor of Specialist Emilio Campo, Jr., Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota from sunrise to sunset on Friday, June 17, 2011, the day of his interment. Specialist Campo, aged 20, from Madelia, Minnesota, was killed on June 6, 2011, while serving in Baghdad, Iraq. He was an athlete while a student at Madelia High School, where he also sang in the choir and was the 2009 prom king. Specialist Campo enlisted in the United States Army in July, 2009, and became a combat medic. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery, out of Fort Riley, Kansas, and was deployed to Iraq.
