Osburne Alexander Griffiin

Osbourne Alexander (Lex) Griffin, age 93 of Troy, died Monday, June 20, 2011. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10:00 am from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Michael Alsup officiating. Interment will follow in Green Hills Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife of 66 years Ruth S. Griffin, daughters Nancy G. O’Neal (George D., Jr.) and Louise G. Ingram, grandchildren, Michael D. O’Neal (Summer S.), Nanette O. Bickel (Christopher Scott, Brian K. Ingram (Jeanette B.) and Keith A. Ingram (Melissa H.); great-grandchildren, Bryce, Elise and Benjamin Bickel; Griffin, Anderson and Collier O’Neal; Kylie and Hailey Ingram; Ryland, Callie and Chase Ingram, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Hill and Mary Helena Duncan Griffin and sisters Norma Williford, Alma Williford, Edna Williford, Oleta Ledbetter and Barbara Blackmon..

Pallbearers will be George D. O’Neal, Jr.(Dave), Michael D. O’Neal, Dr. Christopher S. Bickel (Scott), Brian K. Ingram, Keith A. Ingram and Louis Fox Williford, Jr. (Sonny).

Honorary Pallbearers will be former and present Deacons and Elders of First Presbyterian Church of Troy.

Mr. Griffin retired for the U.S. Army with the rank of Lt. Col. Servied in the Philippines during WWII. Served in Korea during the Korean Conflict, two tours of duty in Germany and numerous places in the US. He also received the Bronze Star during his service. Mr. Griffin also retired from the State of Alabama Employment Service.

He loved to fish, especially in the Gulf in Destin FL. He was a life long member of First Presbyterian Church. He served as a Deacon, Elder, Clerk os Session, Trustee and Sunday School Teacher.

The Family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, George Wallace Drive, Troy, AL or Covenant Christian School, George Wallace Drive, Troy, AL.

The family appreciates the excellent and loving care he received in the Alzheimer unit at Troy Health and Rehab.
